Alice-Toxaway Loop Trail Project
ITA will continue its on-going partnership with the Sawtooth National Recreation Area to accomplish trail stewardship objectives for trail systems accessing Alice, Twin, Toxaway, Farley, Edna, Edith, Imogene, and Hell Roaring Lakes. Trail numbers include 040, 092, 095, 096, 097, and 452. Stewardship activities will include routine trail maintenance on 26 miles of trails annually. Work will include cleaning out water bars, cutting out deadfall, pruning branches and shrubs, and clearing rocks from the trail.
ITA Volunteers will perform heavy trail maintenance work at the passes between Toxaway and Edna Lakes, Edna and Edith Lakes, and Edith and Imogene Lakes where volunteers will grub the trail, remove rocks, and widen the trail prism. They will also clean up campsites at each of the lakes in accordance with standards for wilderness stewardship.
One of ITA’s most popular events, this project is conducted in the heart of what many consider to be one of Idaho’s most stunning landscapes in the Sawtooth Mountains. Incredible views of the Sawtooth’s surround you for this week long adventure. After a hard day’s work, you can take a dip in one of the mountain lakes, go fishing, or just enjoy the scenery.
This project is sponsored by the Boise REI Store.
